\"\"

These puffy yogurt fried breads are light, fluffy, and beautifully golden. Made with simple ingredients, they puff up like little balloons while frying and are delicious served warm.

Ingredients:

  • 100 ml milk
  • 100 g yogurt (Greek yogurt or any thick yogurt)
  • 12 g sugar
  • 3 g active dry yeast
  • 250 g all-purpose flour
  • 3 g salt
  • 15 ml olive oil
  • About 600 ml vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Activate the Yeast
Pour milk into a large bowl.
Add yogurt and mix until smooth.

Add sugar and yeast.
Stir and let sit for 5 minutes.

  1. Make the Dough
    Add flour and salt.

Mix until no dry flour remains.

Add olive oil and knead into a smooth dough.

  1. First Rise
Cover and let the dough rise until doubled in size.
  2. Shape the Dough
Transfer to a lightly floured surface.

Punch down the dough and shape it into a smooth ball.

Divide into 12 equal pieces.

Roll each piece into a smooth ball.

Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.

  1. Roll Out
Use a rolling pin to roll each dough ball into a round disc about 12 cm in diameter.
  2. Fry
Heat vegetable oil in a pot.

To test the oil, place a chopstick into the oil.
If small bubbles immediately form around it, the oil is ready.

Carefully add a dough disc to the oil.

Fry over medium heat.

When the bread puffs up, flip it over.

Continue frying until both sides are golden brown.

This usually takes about 3–5 minutes.

  1. Serve
Remove from the oil and drain briefly.

Serve warm and enjoy!
